(DAYTON, OHIO) – July 9, 2012 – Singer-songwriter David Poe will return to his native Dayton for a special benefit concert to support The Dayton Art Institute, on Friday, July 20, at 8 p.m. in the museum’s NCR Renaissance Auditorium.

Poe, the son of Doris and David Ponitz, is a songwriter, singer, producer, performing musician and composer for film, theater and dance. Solo recordings include his eponymous debut, produced by T-Bone Burnett, The Late AlbumLove Is RedDavid Poe Live & SoloThe Copier: Music for Cedar Lake Contemporary BalletShadowland: Music for Pilobolus, and a live performance, David Poe Onstage at World Café, now on DVD.

Poe is a composer fellow of the Sundance Institute.  Scores for film include Dare (an official Sundance selection), The Brooklyn HeistSeibutsu: Still-LifePart-time Fabulous, and two collaborations with fellow songwriter Duncan Sheik: Harvest, and Little Spirit, an animated holiday special for NBC.

Transplanted from the American Midwest to New York City, Poe served as the sound engineer at CBGB’s 313 Gallery before being signed to Sony/Epic. He’s toured with the likes of Bob Dylan, Joan Baez andTori Amos, collaborated with musicians including Duncan Sheik, Marc Ribot and T-Bone Burnett and written songs for several artists, including Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Oh Land, Thomas Dybdahl, jazz vocalist Curtis Stigers, Portuguese fado singer Ana Moura and Swedish Eurovision winner AnaBergendahl.
